Demystifying Instructional Design
My journey into podcasting began when I was teaching instructional design at the University of Massachusetts-Boston. For the Foundations course, I was interviewing guest speakers as part of my classes. I believed that more people could benefit from the interviews. Further, I was teaching a course on Creating Educational Multimedia. The podcast allowed me to demonstrate to my students how to create and edit audio, but also all the supporting elements of a podcast such as creating a website and promotional reels. Demystifying Instructional Design is an interview-based podcast.

Definitely Not Famous: More Extra than Ordinary
As I began to transition my career away from Instructional Design into writing, I was inspired to create another podcast. I found that I wanted to read more memoirs that were written by everyday people with extraordinary stories to tell. I didn’t want to interview celebrities, rather, I wanted to interview people who would benefit from additional promotion of their books. This lead me to creating Definitely Not Famous: More Extra than Ordinary. Rather than a strict interview format, this podcast uses more of a storytelling mechanism. After I interview the author, I uncover themes in our conversation and use them to wrap a story around the interview. This type of podcast uses more of my writing skills as well as my ability to mix audio.

Never Knew I Wanted to be a Breast Cancer Survivor
My third podcast is one where I share vignettes about my experience as a two time breast cancer survivor. Initially I was looking at creating an audiobook version of my memoir; however, I found that I have grown so much since I wrote that book. I wanted to update it but also integrate stories from my second diagnosis. It made more sense for me to create a podcast as a way to share the stories. This podcast uses the same title as the book: Never Knew I Wanted to be a Breast Cancer Survivor.
